Week 51; Short Email

Today I'm emailing wayyy earlier so I can actually write stuff. We haven't been emailing cuz Elder Gooch doesn't care about it anymore, since he's going home in 3 weeks, so he plans a TON of things to do on P-Day, but today I told him I wanted to email cuz I still got a year in this country haha. He's a super cool guy, it's awesome serving with him.
This week was pretty cool, taught a lot of new people, 12 new investigators to be exact but 4 or 5 of them didn't look too interested to keep talking to us again haha.
Oh and I haven't touched my camera in about a week, so no pics. Sorry, I'll try harder this week.
Anyway, I'll be online if you want to talk :)

-------------------------------------------------------------
Hey I'm back! Haha Gooch had some problems earlier and couldn't email Pres. Matthews so he's doing it right now, which is good! Cuz I forgot to say a few things:
First of all, the start of last week SUCKED because we didn't have water in our house for 2 days, so I didn't shower for 3 days and I felt disgusting haha but it was an experience. Also, I got mom's package! Tell her I said thank you for my little boat, she sent me a pencil sharpener boat of the U.S.S Lexington.

Week 35, 8 Months Out!

I appreciate that God helped me out but... He broke my watch lol. It's annoying having to ask Elder Burch for the time every once in a while. Man so me and Burch kept working harder than ever, and we finally hit our goal!!!! After 2 1/2 months, we finally got 40 people at Sacrament Meeting!! I was way happy.
So this week is the last of the transfer. More than likely Elder Burch and I are gonna get split up cuz last transfer all the southern islands changed BIG time and there was only like 3 changes in all the northern islands. So President said that now the northern ones are gonna get changed. I'm not looking forward to it, Burch and I are way tight and we both love our area. Nobody wants to leave.
It's not a for sure thing about transfers, but it might be me leaving or Burch or both, or none of us. E um bocod complicod (it's a bit complicated).
So my SD card reader I bought at the Chinese store for 2 bucks finally stopped working, lol. Bob sagit, I can't send pics :/
Alright well this would be way funnier with pics, but me and Elder Burch cleaned up the kitchen for a good 4 hours this morning. We have been arguing about whose turn it was for doing the dishes for about a week and a half now. (It was totally his turn) so nobody washed them. We left all the old food and plates pile up and it just started to reek sooo flippin bad for the past 4 days. It was sooo gross cleaning it up, it was super moldy and there were worms and maggots everywhere... lesson learned. Never again. We don't have pics of everything, only of this one pot of rice and corn that had been sitting on our counter for a week. Dude rice stinks SOOO bad when it gets old. It's worse than fish. I recorded Elder Burch taking a huge breath of it, unfortunately he didn't puke. Oh and he shaved his initials into one of my legs, lol. I hated being home last week, it was all stinky and full of flies ALL THE TIME.

Dude time flies by sooo fast. Today I hit 8 months! It's crazy. I'm Elder Burch's age when we got together. Now he's a month away from hitting his year mark. I feel like I just got here, lol.
Elder Montes taught me a huge lesson in my mission. He's a great missionary and when he slept over here a couple of nights I asked him if he ever passed a time in his mission when he was trunky. He said "I think I've been trunky since day one" and I was like WHAT???? He explained the difference between trunkyness and homesickness. I've never been homesick, but I have been trunky a lot. He explained it way well so I don't really feel bad for having my mind wander off when I'm home or something lol.

He time's up! I gotta go! I love you tons and take care!!!!

Week 26, 6 Months Out!

Ughh... I'm pissed. Something happened to my SD card and ALL my pics are deleted or something -.- Like they are obviously still there cuz the card is almost completely full, but they won't appear anywhere. Ughh... so anyways about last week's baptism:
The part where we are standing is super shallow, but the part where Danildo was standing is pretty deep, it was up to his waist and he's taller than me. Man I'm super bummed out, I had like 300 pics there.
Alright well about this past week, it was great. Elder Burch and I got tons of work done. We made a pact with each other that we were gonna try to be as obedient and diligent as possible so we could be blessed with 40 people in sacrament meeting this past Sunday. It wore me out so much. I mean, I'm already super obedient compared to other missionaries in the mission, but I never realized how much I slack off sometimes lol. Little things like getting out of bed at 6:30 and not just lay there 30 minutes after the alarm goes off, staying focused on our studies and small things like that. Yesterday we had 36 people at church. It was a big improvement, but we didn't hit our goal. Even though we were short 4 people, we were still super happy seeing some people there for the first time and others who haven't been there in months. This one kid named Danielson was there, he's 22 and has a baptism date marked for the 2nd of August. He's progressing a lot and already has the desire to get baptized.
Yesterday we hiked up one of the mountain zones called "Figueral". It's like a good mile of a steady (not too steep) incline. We had a member invite us to eat cachupa like around 7:15 so we stopped by and ate quickly because the cars stop driving down the main road back to our house like at 8PM. We had to sprint down Figueral when it was pitch black so we could make it back to the main road on time. We got there like at 8:15, it was super dark and there wasn't a car in sight... like completely deserted. We knew there was absolutely no way we would make it back home in time (since we live like 4 miles away) so we decided to say a prayer. Like 3 minutes after we said it some guy drove by in his car and gave us a ride. Apparently he was heading out to some party in a city close to ours. It's amazing how our Heavenly Father is always willing to help us out, all we have to do is ask. (Hitchhiking is a common form of transportation for us because there's no buses on this island).
And let's see... this past week this old lady beat me with a stick lol. She's a member but she's super mean and strict. She was telling me to sit down and I didn't want to so she got a stick and hit me with it until I sat down lol. Elder Burch has part of it on camera. We were at some church activity and everyone was running around and having a good time and apparently we were about to start with a prayer but I was the first she picked to sit down so I didn't really know what was going on and then she started hitting me with this 3 foot long stick and it hurt lol.
Well today I feel accomplished for writing so much, thanks for the packages and stuff, I'll be waiting for them. I love you!! Buh bye!

Week 14... again no pics :(

Hey! I'll be Skyping on American Mother's Day cuz I don't have a Mexican companion, so yeah.
Tell dad there's a letter getting to him in a couple of days, I think, and I'll write to him again soon. I haven't gotten any letters from anyone, but I have a friend coming over from Praia on Wednesday so if I have anything he'll bring it to me.
That cake looks soo sick, tho, I really want some about now. Cabo Verdeans suck at cooking. Nothing here has strong flavors since they don't use high fructose corn syrup on anything, they only use cane sugar, which is probably why everyone is super buff here.
And I'm all good with money, we get 18,000 escudos in like 2 days so I won't need anything. Sorry I haven't used my camera much, I'll probably start using it this next week though.
Man, you're sooo lucky you get to see Spider Man 2. I walked into this guys house and they were interviewing Andrew Garfield (he's my new celebrity mancrush) and the trailer looked soooo sick! I got a little trunky during those 3 minutes lol. Alright well I don't have much else to say, take care of your fingers cuz they are the only ones you have... actually no, you have another 6, but still. Fica bem! Love you tons!

Week 13... no pics :(

Hey yeah I get to Skype home!!!! Just make sure you go visit mom and dad so I can see everyone. And dude, I don't know much Criollo yet. Everyone says you're only able to speak it once you're senior companion. Well, at least that's what Elder Olson said, which kinda makes sense.
They didn't have much of a celebration for Easter. Well, scratch that. Yesterday "Benfica" (which is everyone's favorite soccer team) won the Portuguese cup so everyone and their mothers were out in the street till midnight drunk and yelling and celebrating and whatnot. I think it was the hardest day on the mission so far for me because we couldn't find ANYONE. It sucked, but at least everyone is quiet today cuz they all have hangovers.
I didn't take any pics this past week, so I'll send some next week.
Tchao! Take Care!
