Week 65

Psh, I don't know what this whole "adult" thing is you are talking about, but if it doesn't include Dragon Ball Z, then I'm not doing it.
Anyways, Hi! This past week was great, I even walked around with my camera and took a bunch of pictures to send you, but then I got here to the internet cyber, and the owner apparently downloaded some sort of other internet program and DOESN'T allow you to send pics.
But back to my great week; the work is going a lot better now, we had been struggling for a few weeks. We are teaching a few families that are super cool, and we had 10 investigators at church yesterday.
Also, the Chapel is almost done! So we have had the chance to do activities every Saturday again, but this time us missionaries are in charge, at least for the next few weeks. This past Saturday we had like 30 people there and it was super fun, everyone loved it. I definitely feel loved here, I love the members and it honestly makes me not miss home.

Oh Yessss! I figured it out! lol turns out I CAN send pictures from here.
This was this past Saturday, this is the Sacrament room.

Also, we visited a zone a 20 minute car ride away called "Palha Verde" and we took some members with us. We have an inactive family there that nobody visited for a while, they were happy to talk to us.
It's in the middle of nowhere though, and there is NOTHING out there lol.
And I'm not sure if I ever told you, but our Branch President is in a wheelchair. He had an accident a few years ago and can't walk, but he always stands up for a couple of hours a day because he's been able to take a few steps and believes he can walk again someday. I hope he gets there!

So these are the April Fool's pictures of the Saran-wrapped toilet.

Week 42

I'm alone!!!! I have had no comp all day!! He'll get here in 2 hours, though. Elder Welch got transferred out of here, sadface, but we still had a sick last week. I took the best pic ever, we were helping out one of our less actives carry food for his cows up a mountain. It was harder than it looked, my respects for people who do it twice a day every single day of the year.
I'm not gonna say much at the moment because I'll be emailing later when Elder Reid gets here. I'm super pumped to serve with him, he's already a buddy of mine when I was back in Sao Vincent.
Anyways, laters!

I'm back! It was sooo weird being alone! I didn't know what to do, I just chilled with Hinzaguy most of the time but he had to work, so I stayed home alone until Reid got here, and now he's here! I'm super pumped to serve with him, he's a boss. I got a call at 11PM last night telling me that my comp was leaving at 8AM and I needed to find someone to stay with, so naturally everyone decided to be busy, so I had nobody to be my comp. I was alone from 8AM until 2PM. Weirdest feeling of my mission so far. I was freaking out.
So this past week was way busy, we did a ton of work with less active members. Something happened that I honestly never believed would happen in my mission. I actually love a little kid, lol. His name is William or "Willy", he is seriously the most adorable kid ever. He's not loud at all and he actually behaves! Only at church tho haha which is good. He's only 6 but he says he wants to serve a mission when he's older, little stud haha. I asked him to sit next to me and take a pic and the first thing he does is throw up a peace sign. He's the one in orange.

This week we also made History!! We visited a zone called Garca which took us an hour and a half in a car and another 30 of walking to get to. I was the first missionary to ever set foot in that area! Welch was second, lol. I have pics but they're in a different SD card that I forgot, sorry. I'll send some next week. The little zone only has about 20 families total, and 2 of them have been coming to church twice a month for a while, they have a baptism date for the 13th of December, I'm so pumped for them!
Dude!! Look at this pic Elder Olsen drew me. It is seriously my favorite drawing ever. He knows me so well, haha. It's a bunch of Yoshi, Naruto, and Dragon Ball Z stuff.

Week 39

This was an interesting week, way better than the last. First of all, the Thompsons, who are the humanitarian missionary couple for Cape Verde, visited us and asked us to take them to some schools in the area so they could find a school that needs help with money and stuff. We visited a tiny school in Figueral which had about 75 students in only 3 really small classrooms with not much in them, just old chairs and tables. It was awesome talking to the little kids, especially this one kid with the Dragon Ball Z bag!! I just had to take a picture with it, the kid was like wtf?

So I had a crappy week last week but this one was tons better, we got so much work done and were working a lot with this one girl who is super special. We talked to her only 3 times and she's already asking when she can serve a mission lol. We actually found her randomly at the house of one of our investigators, she was just hanging out when we knocked on the door. we taught her super fast for like 10 minutes since they were both heading out. At the start of our next visit she pulled out a poem she wrote saying how she's been searching for God for a long time and never found Him until she heard a knock at the door. We invited her to pray and stuff and she said that night after praying she felt the biggest peace and happiness she has ever felt. She's getting baptized the 1st of November.

Week 16, now with pictures!

Hey what's up! Yes I totally get to skype again (on Christmas), and don't let mom send sunscreen, I really wouldn't even use it. But at least I look like a Mexican again, all that time in Utah made me look super white. {not really}
I didn't get much time to talk to everyone, and yeah it was super nice seeing everyone and stuff but don't let dad invite sooo many people over next time, I feel like I didn't have a conversation with anyone. Man, you should have let me see Venom, I've yet to see him in more than just pictures.
So man, this past week was pretty crazy. On Monday night I was super excited because I finally realized I was Skyping with you all that Sunday. Then we got a call from the APs saying that we're giving a training Thursday morning at Zone Conference. I was like, Crap lol. Zone Conference is when all the missionaries in the zone get together along with President Oliveira, the APs (assistants to the President) and other important people. We all have an 8 hour meeting learning how to become better missionaries and stuff. I wrote you a letter about how that went, so I guess I don't need to write tons more about it.
So I actually took pics this week! These are a few pics of "Barrio Lata" (neighborhood of tin), it's like one of the poorest places in the entire city of Mindelo, it's kinda sad. All the houses are made of tin (hence the name) it's one of the areas that me and elder Olsen work at.

Sorry the pics aren't that great, but it's a super sketchy place and I would get robbed if I start looking like a tourist. But it's not all bad, I like that they make the most of everything and they decorate the house. Like this poem here, tell me if you understand it. And also, an epic Gohan.

This epic old lady was carrying sooo many eggs on her head. This is actually pretty common. All the ladys carry huge things on their heads. I just thought this one was impressive cuz she was old lol.

Also, Peter Pan bro, Peter Pan.

Well, that's about it for this week. Expect a letter in like 2 weeks or so. It was nice seeing and talking to you yesterday! Tchao!

Week 15

100 Days?? It feels like a month ago that I left, that's weird. And yeah, you should definitely make a list of all the movies I need to see when I get back.
It's hard to sum it all up in one email, our area is flooded with less actives, so we really work harder trying to bring them back to church rather than find new investigators. Although we found an awesome family 2 days ago. It's 3 kids and the mom. Sadly the husband had just passed away a few years back, but the kids are wayy smarter than the average Cabo Verdeans. The oldest is Bruno, who is 13. Him and I just clicked instantly cuz he loves drawing and also loves Dragon Ball Z. He drew a super cool Gohan and Goku on the wall of his house and his mom got super mad haha. This family showed soo much interest when we told them our purpose as missionaries, but the mom works A LOT. We're only gonna get to teach them twice a week so they'll progress pretty slowly.
Well I'll try to write more about other investigators next week, for now I kinda have to go. Take care! I love you!! Tchao Tchao
